Excellent book on rambling around Kent at the time of publcation which though undated is late 1800s. Contains 191 pages in overall bright clean condition just a few foxing spots to first and last couple of pages, previous owners inked details on first blank page dated 1885, this ink has seeped through in small spots to illustration opposite title page see image, paper is split on the inner hinge of the front endpaper but binding is sound and holding. Sixty two wood engravings plus 6 full page illustrations taken from steel engravings,all present as listed plus very informative text, NO dustwrapper, outer embossed boards are a little worn on corners and top and bottom of spine, some marking to boards and slight slant to spine. Splendid book of photographs of Falmouth, 12 pages of sepia photographs just attached to page by top edge, in very bright clean condition just light mark to first one caused by oval cut away on front cover. Not dated but from appearance of photographs seems to be early 1900s, photographs contain people in period clothes, horse and cart and shipping plus buildings and places of interest. Only publishing details are the words Dainty series on rear cover, pages are bound together with original cord, rear cover has diagonal crease from top to bottom edges 7 inches long, small closed tear to oval cut away on front cover. Slipcase is bright and clean just a small patch to one corner where surface paper has come of showing a slightly lighter colour very minor. Splendid book on travelling the thames from Westminster to Oxford, not dated but appears to be late 1800s. 128 pages plus appendix with lots of information on toll charges, angling and very informative text on the places along the river, 18 pages of old adverts. 140 illustrations in text plus two pull out single colour maps, these maps are complete but have a few tears on each along some of the creases. Book is clean inside with neat previous owners name on rear of front endpaper, yellow front and rear endpapers have some discolouration around edges. Outer boards are attractive with gold and black embossed illustration, maroon cloth has many light spots where surface is lightly pitted, small split in middle of rear spine hinge 3 inches long, corners a little rubbed, spine darkened. Still a pleasing copy of a very interesting book of the Thames SEE IMAGE. DETAILED IMAGES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.
