Story of Catharine and Susan, two wooden dolls, becoming involved with the suffragette movement and falling foul of the law, and giving in very quickly to going home with the lesson and thoughts of the time that was where they belonged. A splendidly illustrated book with full page colour illustrations and an insight to a bygone way of thinking. Many B/w photographs and illustrations, all present as listed plus very informative text, pasted on bookplate on inside front board stating St Pauls School library and circular label with number 796 this number is also on the title page, NO dustwrapper , outer gold decorated boards are a little rubbed on edges, spine is darkened with an inked number on spine and remains of an old sticker. At the inner hinges, the decorated paper endpapers have splits but the binding is sound, on one page there is a small gap where the cord binding has stretched very slightly but again the binding is firm and sound, neat former owners name on blank rear of front endpaper, outer edges of pages are gold all round. NO dustwrapper outer gold decorated boards are a little rubbed on edges and corners, gold decoration very slightly dulled but still attractive. A nice example of this book SEE IMAGES. Endpapers are marbled as are edges of pages. Outer full leather boards are split at hinges and are only held by the binding cords, top and bottom of spine is worn as are corners and edges, front bottom right corner has tiny piece missing.
